A Memorable Visit to Vaidyaratnam Institutes for Students in Kerala

On July 16, 2025, students from the Department of Biotechnology had a remarkable opportunity to explore the depths of Ayurveda and research through the Ayur Vigyan Yatra. The event was thoughtfully organized to bridge traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with modern scientific research.


Event Highlights

The yatra began with a visit to the Herbal Garden of Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College. Here, Dr. Nimmy, Assistant Professor in the Department of Dravyaguna Vijnana, shared valuable insights. She explained the therapeutic uses of various medicinal plants and how these herbs are used in daily Ayurvedic practice.

The next stop was the Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda Museum. Mr. Anil, the curator, guided the students through an engaging session. He explained the historical evolution of Ayurveda and its cultural significance in Kerala and beyond.


Hands-On Research Exposure at VARI

At the Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda Research Institute (VARI), students attended an orientation session led by Dr. Sheela Karalam (R&D Head) and Dr. Ashish G R (Senior Scientist). They introduced the students to cutting-edge research in the field of Ayurveda.

The tour of VARI included visits to state-of-the-art laboratories, where students saw firsthand how modern instruments are used to validate traditional Ayurvedic formulations.
