Butterfly Ecopark and Conservation Centre Launched at Thrissur Zoo

The Department of Botany and Zoology of St. Mary’s College, Thrissur, joined hands with the State Museum and Zoo, Thrissur, to launch a vibrant Butterfly Ecopark and Conservation Centre on 10 November 2025. This proud moment highlights Kerala’s strong commitment to biodiversity and campus-driven conservation.

Event Highlights

The event began with an inspiring inaugural address by Zoo Superintendent Mr. Anilkumar T. V..
Later, College Principal Dr. Sr. Meena K. Chervathur delivered the presidential speech that stressed the value of conservation in Kerala.

Academic Leadership and Felicitations

Heads of the departments of Botany, Zoology, and Malayalam offered warm felicitation messages.
They also shared useful instructions that guided the flow of the programme.

Student Participation

A large number of PG and UG Botany students joined the function.
Their active presence added energy to the event and reflected strong student interest in biodiversity.
Many students shared that the new centre will surely support research and learning in Thrissur.
