Calicut University’s women’s football team has made history by winning the South Zone Inter-University Women’s Football Championship for the first time. The tournament was held at Alagappa University, Karaikudi.

In the semifinal league match, Calicut University defeated Annamalai University with a solitary goal, securing their place as champions. The team finished the league with seven points after drawing their opening match against Madras University.

Team Leadership and Coaching

The championship-winning team was coached by Farook College’s Physical Education Department head, Irshad Hassan, with Jessie Elayidath serving as the assistant coach. Their strategic guidance and the team’s dedication played a crucial role in this monumental victory.

Performers from Mercy College, Palakkad

Among the standout players were Jesi J. S. (D2 BA History) and Sabimol K. (D3 BA History) from Mercy College, Palakkad, who represented the university with pride and determination.

Other Results

Madras University secured second place, while Vels University took third. Annamalai University finished fourth in the tournament.
