St. Joseph’s College for Women, Alappuzha Inaugurates RET Plant Conservatory

St. Joseph’s College for Women, Alappuzha, has taken a major step toward environmental conservation.
On January 22, 2026, the college inaugurated its RET (Rare, Endangered, and Threatened) Plant Conservatory.

This initiative highlights the institution’s strong commitment to sustainability and biodiversity protection.
It also reflects the growing role of Kerala colleges in environmental leadership.

Currently, the college proudly holds:

• NAAC A+ Grade
• KIRF Rank 13
• NIRF Rank Band 101–150

These achievements bring pride to the higher education sector in Kerala.

A Green Initiative Rooted in Kerala

The inauguration ceremony began at 2:30 pm with a warm welcome to guests, faculty, and students.
The event focused on the official opening of the conservatory.

This facility is designed to preserve plant species that are disappearing from natural habitats.
Such efforts are crucial for Kerala, known for its rich biodiversity and fragile ecosystems.

The conservatory was inaugurated by Ms. Sruthy Jose, District Coordinator, Kerala State Biodiversity Board.
