“Here’s My Challenge of Social Entrepreneurship to the Youth of St Mary’s College”Says Mahitha Award Winner Smt Mereena Paul

Thrissur, Kerala – March 25, 2025 – St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thrissur, hosted the
distinguished Sr. Dr. Chrislin Endowment Mahitha Award Ceremony jointly instituted by The
College, PTA and Alumnae. Smt. Mereena Paul, Co-founder of ESAF Group of Social
Enterprises and Executive Director of ESAF Foundation, was honoured with the prestigious
Mahitha Award 2024-25.
The event, held at the Jubilee Hall at 9:30 AM, was attended by faculty, students, and
distinguished guests. Dr. Dalie Dominic A, Vice Principal and IQAC Coordinator, delivered
the welcome address, followed by the presidential address by Dr. Sr. Beena T L, Principal of
St. Mary’s College.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Mahitha Award to Smt. Mereena
Paul, in recognition of her remarkable contributions to social entrepreneurship and her
exemplary leadership in advancing the mission of the ESAF Foundation. In her response,
Smt. Mereena Paul shared valuable insights into her professional journey and the impact of
her work. Ms Mereena placed a challenge to the young minds in the audience to take up the
mission of serving the society, in uplifting the needy and suffering.
Felicitation addresses were rendered by Dr. Julie P. Lazar, Dean of Academics and Head of
the Department of Economics, and Ms. Gopika V G, College Chairperson. The event was
concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Litty Mathew Irimpan, IQAC Joint Coordinator.
The ceremony served as a testament to Smt. Mereena Paul’s exemplary achievements and
highlighted St. Mary’s College’s ongoing commitment to recognizing individuals who have
made significant contributions to society
