In partnership with the Organic Kerala Charitable Trust, the college launched a powerful campaign to mark World Environment Day 2025, focusing on this yearโs global theme โ “Ending Plastic Pollution.” ๐๏ธ Celebration Calendar: A Month of Action The environment day observation isn’t limited to one day. Instead, it spans from June 5 to June 30, with a series of vibrant events that encourage environmental responsibility among students and the public. ๐๏ธ Thought Leaders Share Insights โ June 5 Highlights The celebrations began on June 5 with a seminar at Fr. Melesius Hall, Main Campus.The inaugural event saw respected voices speak passionately on todayโs most pressing ecological concerns: Adv. Harish Vasudevan, Environmental Activist and Lawyer, spoke about Indian Laws and Food Contamination by Toxic Chemicals. Dr. M. P. Remesan, ICAR-CIFT, Kochi, shared key findings on Forever Chemicals in Food. Dr. M. K. Mukundan, Former Director of CFRD Konni & CIFT, underlined risks linked to Toxic Food Chains. A scientific session explored how marine litter threatens both marine and terrestrial ecosystems. An exhibition on โAlternatives to Plasticsโ was inaugurated, setting the tone for the rest of the campaign. โ๏ธ Competitions that Spark Change โ June 13 Sacred Heart College encouraged student creativity through engaging competitions: ๐๏ธ Inter-College Essay Writing Competition ๐จ Inter-School Painting Competition (For Classes 6โ10) ๐ Venue: East Campus, SH College, Thevara ๐ง Theme: โPlastic-Free Future: Policy, Innovation, and People Powerโ Interested students can still register through QR codes distributed by the organizing team. ๐จโ๐ซ Tushar Gandhiโs Powerful Talk โ June 17 A major highlight was the guest address by Shri Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi.In his talk titled โWorld Nutrition with Microplastics Contamination,โ he raised thought-provoking questions about how microplastics are silently invading our daily food and affecting health. ๐ Valedictory and Recognition โ June 27 The campaign will conclude on June 27 with a valedictory function at the Main Campus.Dr. A.
