CONFERENCE THEME: BRIDGING THE DIVIDES
Taking off as an offshoot of innovative educational practice, vocational education has grown on to become one of the pillars of modern education. The objective is to make the individual learner be ‘work ready and offer prospective employers a talent pool that has ‘on the job know-how’. The world over, there is increasing recognition for such a stream of education across all levels – be it school, college or informal. In India, the New Education Policy 2020 has rightly recognized the significance that vocational education holds in transforming a diverse learner group to industry ready, employable aspirants. As the vocational education domain expands, different streams are emerging, creating new divides between formal and informal, preparatory and higher education, continuing education and on-the-job learning. A relook at the vocational education scenario is overdue in this context. The conference intends to cover select areas to seek solutions to these divides.
