Industrial Innovation Immersion Visit: Commerce Students Tour Oushadhi & KSE

THRISSUR: The Department of Commerce (SF) at St. Thomas College (Autonomous), Thrissur, successfully conducted a significant field trip. On January 6, 2026, they organized a comprehensive Industrial Innovation Immersion Visit. Crucially, this initiative operated under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC). The Santhome Innovators Program (SIP) also supported the event.

The organizers aimed to show students how innovation drives efficiency in the real world. Therefore, the itinerary included visits to two distinct major enterprises: Oushadhi in Thrissur and KSE Limited in Irinjalakuda. Consequently, students witnessed the practical application of quality and sustainability concepts across both public and private sectors.

Oushadhi: Modernizing Ancient Wisdom

Initially, the group visited Oushadhi. This public-sector giant creates Ayurvedic medicines. Here, students experienced a unique blend of knowledge. They observed the innovative integration of traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with modern production technologies. Furthermore, the facility demonstrated how standardized quality systems work alongside ethical sourcing.
