THRISSUR: St. Thomas College (Autonomous), Thrissur, witnessed a heartwarming and nostalgic gathering recently. The institution organized a grand Reception for Bishop Mar Joy Alappatt. The event honored the Bishop of the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago, who is also a distinguished alumnus of the college.

Organized by Peers and Alumni

The “Stars” alumni association took the lead in organizing this memorable event. Specifically, the reception was a collaborative effort between the association and the Bishop’s former classmates. Notably, these classmates studied with him at the college 50 years ago. Consequently, the gathering served as both a formal honour and a warm reunion of old friends. The atmosphere was filled with memories of campus life from five decades ago.

Inauguration and Leadership

Mar Tony Neelankavil, the Manager of St. Thomas College, officially inaugurated the meeting. In his address, he highlighted the importance of such alumni achievements. Furthermore, C.A. Francis, the President of the “Stars” association, presided over the function. He spoke about the pride the college takes in its former students who reach global heights.

Distinguished Speakers and Attendees

The event saw participation from several prominent figures. Additionally, many leaders from the alumni community offered their felicitations. James Muttikkal, the Secretary of the association, played a key role in the proceedings.

Moreover, a long list of dignitaries addressed the gathering. This included Dr. K.P. Nandakumar, K.T. Markose, and Shaju Cheriyan. Also, John Babu, C.V. Aji, and K.D. Varghese shared their thoughts. The list of speakers further included V.P. Joseph, Joy Thottan, E.J. Cheriyachan, and Johnson Cheeran.
