NCC Cadets Champion Green Initiative Through Paper Bag Distribution Drive at Mar Athanasius College

Kothamangalam: Reinforcing the message of environmental sustainability and responsible living, the National Cadet Corps (NCC), 18 (K) Battalion, Mar Athanasius College (Autonomous), Kothamangalam, organized a Paper Bag Distribution Campaign under the theme “A Step Towards a Greener Tomorrow.”

As part of the initiative, NCC cadets visited various shops and commercial establishments in and around Kothamangalam town, distributing eco-friendly paper bags to traders and encouraging them to reduce the use of single-use plastic carry bags. The campaign also served as an awareness drive, highlighting the importance of adopting sustainable alternatives to protect the environment.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from NCC cadets, who interacted with shop owners and members of the public, explaining the harmful effects of plastic pollution and the need for collective action in preserving nature. The traders welcomed the initiative and appreciated the cadets for promoting environmentally responsible practices.

The campaign reflects the NCC’s commitment to community service beyond its regular activities, demonstrating how youth can play a significant role in addressing environmental challenges.
