Marian Arts and Science College, Koduvayur, celebrated International Population Day 2025 with a thought-provoking programme that blended academic insight and local engagement. The event was organised by the Department of Economics in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).

📌 Event Highlights: A Day of Reflection and Insight

The programme started with a warm welcome by Ms. Raihanafarvin A, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics.
Dr. Sr. Prima, the respected Principal, delivered the presidential address, setting the tone for the day’s discussion.

The official inauguration was done by Dr. Pradeep P, Assistant Professor and Research Guide, Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur. His insights on population and sustainability were well-received by both students and faculty.

Adding a community perspective, Mr. P.K. Manikandan, Retired Education Officer and Secretary of Joy Lions Club, Palakkad, offered his felicitations.

One of the most engaging segments of the programme was a student-led survey presentation.
Third-year BA Economics students presented their findings on the topic:
“Is Population Growth a Challenge or a Benefit?”
Their research connected the issue with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), offering fresh perspectives rooted in local understanding.

This segment not only highlighted the academic calibre of Marian College but also showcased how Kerala’s youth are engaging with global issues at the grassroots level.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Arshana, a Third BA Economics student, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries and participants.
