SPIC MACAY Kerala Chapter Hosts Carnatic flute lecture-demonstration at Christ College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda

The Kerala chapter of SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) organized a mesmerizing Carnatic flute lecture-demonstration at Christ College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda, on 26th September 2025.

The event celebrated the essence of classical music, offering students a chance to experience the soulful charm of South Indian tradition.

• Lead Artist: Vidwan Mysore A. Chandan Kumar, an eminent flutist and great-grandson of violin legend Mysore Sri T. Chowdaiah.
• Awards & Recognition:
  • Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar (2009)
  • Kanchi Kamakoti Asthana Vidwan Award (2013)
  • Ganakalashree (2018)
• Accompanists:
  • Dr. K. Jayakrishnan on Mridangam
  • R. Swaminathan on Violin

Together, they created an enchanting performance that blended rhythm, melody, and tradition.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Jolly Andrews CMI, Principal of Christ College.

• Smt. Jincy S. R., Teacher Coordinator, proposed the Vote of Thanks.
