Event Highlights

The Department of Media Studies, St. Thomas College (Autonomous), Thrissur, organized an industrial visit to Radio Mattoli 90.4 FM, Mananthavadi, Wayanad, on 11th September 2025.

Students had the unique chance to explore Kerala’s first community radio station, a platform that has been a voice of the people in Wayanad.

Insightful Session with Rev. Fr. Bivaldin

The session was led by Rev. Fr. Bivaldin, Assistant Director of Radio Mattoli. He shared valuable insights on:

  • The role of community radio in empowering society
  • The objectives of community broadcasting in Kerala
  • The challenges faced by local radio stations today

Live Radio Experience

Students also witnessed a live broadcast session, which helped them understand:

  • Program scheduling and content flow
  • Technical operations in radio broadcasting
  • On-air presentation techniques

This real-time exposure gave students a deeper appreciation of how community radio connects with people at the grassroots.
