St. Aloysius College Elthuruth Empowers Faculty to Nurture Drug-Free Youth

Elthuruth, Thrissur – 8 August 2025:
St. Aloysius College, Elthuruth, through its College Protection Group (CPG), successfully conducted a Faculty Training Programme on “Nurturing Drug-Free Youth” at the college auditorium from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The session was presided over by Dr. E. D. Dias, Principal of St. Aloysius College, and began with a warm welcome from Dr. Raina Jose Chirappanath, NCC Programme Coordinator.

Expert Session on Drug Prevention

The resource person, Mr. Latheef K, Preventive Officer, Excise Range Office, Thrissur, delivered an eye-opening talk on:

• The alarming rise of drug abuse among youth
• Social and legal repercussions of substance use
• The crucial role of educators in prevention

His insights emphasized practical strategies to help teachers guide students towards a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

The programme reflected the college’s commitment to:

• Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3)
• Quality Education (SDG 4)
• Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16)

Interactive Discussions and Closing

The interactive session allowed faculty members to share experiences, ask questions, and discuss solutions. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mr. Jaison Jose, NSS Programme Coordinator, marking the successful completion of the training.
