The spirit of scientific curiosity came alive at St. Clare’s C.G.H.S.S., Thrissur, on January 28, 2026.
The BioE³ Explorers School Outreach Programme introduced students to the exciting world of biotechnology.

The programme was organised by the Department of Biotechnology, St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thrissur, in association with LUCA Science Magazine.
It was conducted as part of the National Seminar BIOE³.

Making Science Simple and Fun

The outreach programme aimed to simplify life science concepts for school students.
It focused on learning beyond textbooks, making science practical and relatable.

The highlight was an interactive talk titled:
“From Lab to Life: Let’s Do the Invisible Science.”

The session was led by Dr. Keerthy Vijayan,
KSCSTE Post-Doctoral Fellow, CPBMB, Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur.

Key Concepts Explained with Ease

During the session, students explored core ideas in modern biology.
Complex topics were explained using simple language and visuals.

Key topics included:

  • DNA and RNA basics
  • Proteins and their functions
  • Introduction to genomics
  • Real-life applications of biotechnology

Videos, live demonstrations, and working models enhanced understanding.
Simple experiments made learning interactive and enjoyable.

Quiz Competition Boosts Student Engagement

A quiz competition was conducted during the programme.
It encouraged participation and reinforced key concepts.
