The Department of English organized a Nature Immersion Trip (NIT) to Peechi Reserve Forest and KFRI on 16 January 2026.The trip was planned for Second Semester Chemistry and Statistics students. This initiative reflects Kerala’s strong tradition of environmental awareness and sustainability education. Event Highlights of the Nature Immersion Trip The Nature Immersion Trip combined adventure, education, and environmental responsibility.It offered students hands-on learning in one of Kerala’s rich forest regions. Key Highlights 8 km guided trek through the Peechi Reserve Forest Two expert sessions on biodiversity and sustainability Discussions on climate change and human-wildlife conflict Exposure to Kerala’s forest conservation efforts 56 students actively participated in the programme The experience helped students understand nature beyond textbooks. Learning at Peechi Reserve Forest and KFRI The sessions focused on Kerala’s unique biodiversity.Students learned how climate change affects forest ecosystems. Moreover, experts explained the growing issue of human-wildlife conflict in the state.These discussions connected global concerns with local Kerala realities. Such exposure builds responsible citizens.It also strengthens environmental ethics among young learners. Faculty Leadership Behind the Initiative The programme was designed and coordinated by Dr. Flergin Antony.He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English. His initiative shows how interdisciplinary learning benefits science students.It also highlights the proactive role of Kerala’s college faculty. As we say in Malayalam, “വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം പ്രകൃതിയോട് ചേർന്ന്” – education rooted in nature.
